Presenting Kathryn Rattigan who will be representing Inner Explorer

Kathryn began practicing mindfulness as a way to manage her back pain suffered from a fall. When she was told about the practice of mindfulness for pain management, she was skeptical but the practice was trans-formative, helping her rid herself of the pain. She realized that mindfulness could also help her to manage everyday stresses and anxiety. She became more calm, resilient and creative. She was introduced to Inner Explorer via a pro bono project at her previous law firm. She continued her work with Inner Explorer as a lawyer for Robinson + Cole in Providence and Boston, where she was able to continue to volunteer to do pro bono work for Inner Explorer as a way to help more kids get access to these important practices.

In addition, her mother, Cheryl Sylvia, is a teacher in the greater Boston area and has been using Inner Explorer with her 6th grade class. Her mother's experience with Inner Explorer has been wonderful and inspiring, helping her students to focus and instill calm and respect in their lives and in the classroom.

Mindfulness has been an important part of Kathryn's own life and she hopes to help Inner Explorer raise more funds to incorporate mindfulness into more classrooms across the country.

How We Are Changing The World, One Student At A Time
Inner Explorer’s daily mindfulness practices reduce student stress, help strengthen self-regulation skills and improve academic performance. Teachers in pre-K through 12th grade classrooms simply log on and press ‘play’. While the implementation is simple, the results are dramatic. Only 10 mindful minutes are needed to help kids focus, reduce behavior issues and give teachers more time to engage and inspire their students.

As mindful awareness teachers with nearly 30 years of combined experience, we understand how difficult it is to develop a daily practice. Yet we know this is the most critical step to obtaining the vast benefits of mindful awareness.

About The Marathon

What is Boston Marathon?
The Boston Marathon is an annual marathon hosted by several cities in greater Boston in eastern Massachusetts. It is always held on Patriots' Day, the third Monday of April.
