Introduction

Welcome to Inner Explorer!

Inner Explorer is a Mindful Based Social Emotional Learning (MBSEL) program designed to help your students become “ready to learn,” leading to less anxiousness and stress, better performance in school, and improved interactions with peers and teachers. Our program will also support your own personal and professional well-being enhancing your effectiveness inside and outside the classroom.

Mindful awareness, with the foundational practices of returning one’s attention to the present moment again and again, allows children the space and opportunity to pay close attention, develop self-control, compassion, empathy and a clearer understanding of what is happening in the present moment. These skills grow and develop, from the inside out, with consistent practice.

By practicing mindful awareness, we create space, in our minds and in our lives, to make thoughtful, wise, conscious choices, and to make a habit out of responding, rather than reacting. We call this “learning from the inside out.”

The Inner Explorer program (IE), combines key learning areas of mindful awareness; cognitive neurobiology; physiology; social and emotional learning (SEL); heartbrain synchronization; and guided imagery; to help students develop their own toolbox of inner resources. As students are guided through each lesson they will investigate and explore.

““MIndfulness means paying attention in a particular way; on purpose, in the present moment, and nonjudgmentally.” - Jon Kabat-Zinn
